Honda are a successful motor car manufacturer for a number of reasons. They’re known for affordability. For making family cars. For making powerful racers such as the Civic Type R. But one thing they’re not known for is forward thinking electric vehicle production. That is, until now.
Honda are pushing themselves to the forefront of electric vehicle tech, with the introduction of the Urban EV.
The Urban EV is a retro throwback looking to the future. Design features such as the circular headlights and bold rectangular grille, combined with the overall solid block structure of this EV all feel like nods to previous Honda creations of the 70s. The low ride height and wide stance give off a sporty feel which Honda hope will appeal to younger drivers or dwellers of the city.
When it comes to interior design we are not yet entirely sure what Honda will have to offer up. Early previews have shown an extremely simplistic but high tech interior. One of the main features being an extremely large infotainment screen.
Drivers can expect a few changes from concept version to road car, for example side mirrors, they’ll be a pretty important edition. We also expect the interior wrap around screens to go as well as the LED displays on the front of the car.
With no official release date set, the production version of the Urban EV is predicted to be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year. Here we will get to see the EV in all its glory and get a more detailed look at the vehicles interior.
What that means for drivers looking to lease a Honda we are not quite sure yet. But with rivals like the BMW I3, Honda are going to have to pull out all the stop if they want to make Honda Urban EV leasing a success.
