Four-Door Mercedes-AMG GT Concept On The Way!

Date: September 4th, 2017

Due to hit the roads sometime in 2019 Mercedes have teased the new model 600bhp-plus four-door saloon concept. With the car so far only been shown at car showcase events its hard to go into great detail about all the features of the next AMG GT however, with some well placed educated guesses combined with what we do know, we hope to give you the best possible idea out there of what to expect.

With a saloon like four door body merged with a more coupe style roof shape, what we have seen image wise so far of this vehicle gives the impression that it means serious business.  From the rear we can see that the rounded backside sports a small spoiler sitting on the otherwise smooth design, below this a trapezoidal center-mounted exhaust surrounded by an aggressive rear diffuser. All this suggests that the AMG GT concept car will be capable of some serious performance stats. Not to mention it looks mind mindbogglingly stunning. Can you legally marry a car?  ( Im asking for a friend) Maybe one day.

If we look at the German designed car from the side, aside from the obvious fact that the vehicle has four doors the other striking aspect is the ginormous alloys.

Performance and options.

As we said we currently dont have all the ins and outs when it comes to the cars specs, but here is what we do know.  You’ll be sitting on a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine said to be offered in standard 4matic+ and S 4matic+. With the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine being confirmed in the new E63 we expect the AMG GT to go above and beyond the E63’s 603bhp.

We also predict that Mercedes will probably offer a six-cylinder version of the AMG GT will while being less powerful will still sport a turbocharged 3.0 litre in line engine.

We have also heard rumors that Mercedes have been toying with the idea of introducing an ISG system, thats an integrated starter generator. Brilliant! So whats one of those? The ISG would give the AMG GT an instant start up, meaning that Stop- start technology would be more fluid than ever. The ISG system also offers the vehicle added performance for a short space of time. This would be thanks to an electric motor located inside the gearbox.

Pair the above with Mercedes most recent version of the four wheel drive 4matic system and this means the car can distribute power between the front and rear wheels accordingly depending on how your driving and so on. Oh you also now get a drift option. Haha such fun. This will give power to the rear wheels only. Oversteer city.

Competition.

Whos this beauty going to be aimed at then?

Well those who will most likely be itching to get behind the wheel of one of these will be drivers of the likes of BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé,  Porsche Panamera and also the Audi A7 and RS7. We’ll have to wait and see if the AMG GT will rival these or go beyond.

So until we see these on the road we wont know for sure what to expect other than Mercedes usual standards. But from what we have seen so far the next AMG GT is set to be a stunner.
