The new Audi A1 has arrived and will soon be available to lease. With that in mind we thought we’d give you a run down of all the new features of the A1 for 2019. Aimed at a young city audience, Audi have revitalized their entry level vehicle with new design, tech and interior features, as well as a new engine line up. So lets take a look at the premium badge compact model.
With inspirations from previous Audi creations such as the three vents at the front of the bonnet, inspired by the eighties Sport Quattro and a lower, more aggressive Motorsport stance, we think the Audi A1 has never looked better. The car is longer and wider than the vehicle its replacing, meaning for more interior space. The new front grille and bumper contribute further to the sports feeling the A1 is clearing aiming for. Designers have done a great job of making the latest version of the car feel fresh and not just a new paint job on the old car.
Interior Design/ Features
When you lease a new Audi A1 one of the first things you may notice, is how large the interior feels for a vehicle of this size. Now not only is this because the inside actually is larger than its predecessor, but also because of the genius used by Audi’s designers. The use of exclusively horizontal lines give the impression of space and area. The interior is also kept in theme with the outsides Motorsport feel by having an angled dash, for easiest driver use. Drivers can choose from a range of colour trim options making the interior particularly eye catching. These options include a choice of sports seats, sports steering wheel and mood lighting.
The interior is comprised of one infotainment touch screen, which is angled towards the driver for maximum ergonomic comfort. As standard the screen is 8.8 inches. If you want larger then opt for the Technology Pack which increases the size to 10.1 inches. Audi’s extremely popular virtual cockpit is featured on the vehicle. Even on the entry model kit levels are more than generous. Lease a new A1 and there is also the option for a 360- degree camera to assist with parking, as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
There are no diesel engines available on the new Audi A1 lease. This leaves drivers with the option of modest yet punchy petrol options. Starting with a 94hp 1.0 litre petrol turbocharged engine. 0-62 mph clocks in at 9.5 seconds here. As standard this is paired with a six speed manual gear box, however seven speed auto is also an option. Next up is a larger 1.5 litre petrol. With a sub 8 second 0-62 mph time, this is a great option for motorway drivers still wanting a little go faster power.
We are also expecting the current Audi S1 to be replaced with a new engine however Audi have not yet released details on this, so more to come soon!
For drivers looking at an A1 lease, practicality is key. The good news is the latest A1 is pretty much more spacious in every area! Not to mention its now only available with five doors, meaning passengers wont have to contort themselves just to get past the front seats. Even in the rear of the vehicle, six footers should still have plenty of wiggle room. Room in the rear feels more like the current A3 than the old A1! In the front there is height adjustable seating and steering wheel, with the option of electrical and heated seats available. The boot has expanded too, along with a 12v socket and shopping hooks, the A1’s boot has an adjustable floor meaning you can reduce the vehicle load lip for easy use.
